Have you rowed in an 8?

I've rowed in a pair and in a four with a cox but I've never rowed in an 8. Have you rowed in an 8? Is there any difference apart from the number of rowers? I'd like to try rowing in an 8 because I like to be part of a team, but I haven't had the opportunity yet.
