Is rowing too fast bad for your body? Is straining too much, like leaning back and forwards too much also bad in the long run?

I don't think so because duration has to come down with intensity. Rowing at high intensity will significantly lower the duration and this will reduce the risk of repetitive strain injury. However, you are more susceptible to injury in any form of sprinting because of the intensity.
